I charge $60 for a 1 hour session and $80 for a 90 minute session. I charge $100 for a 2 hour session.
I accept payment in cash, by cheque, or through etransfer. I prefer to be paid after each session, or in advance of sessions. I offer receipts for tax purposes.
Yes, I offer in-home tutoring for those living near me. I live near Yonge and Steeles. I tutor in North York, Thornhill, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and Markham.
I would recommend one 90 minute session a week or two 1 hour sessions per week. I have found that frequency to be sufficient for most students to stay on track and not fall behind.
Tutoring is not all that I do. I’m a high school math and science teacher employed with the YRDSB.
I use a problem-based tutoring approach. For most of the session, the student I’m tutoring is working on solving problems and answering questions. Each session is dedicated to assessing understanding and filling in gaps in knowledge.
I have access to all high school math and science textbooks. I have physical and electronic copies of most textbooks that are used in high schools. I also have taught most of the courses that I tutor students in, so I have resources such as quizzes, tests, and exams. I share supplementary resources with my students.
Yes, I also offer tutoring during the summer. I help students that are taking a course in summer school during July. In August, I prepare students for courses that they will be taking in the fall and winter.
I would appreciate being notified of a cancellation several days in advance, so that I’m able to make changes to my schedule.
Unlike other tutoring businesses, I don’t offer packages or plans. I keep it simple by having a fixed rate.
