I studied Mathematics and Biochemistry at the University of Toronto, and completed my teacher training at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). I am a teacher with the York Region District School Board. Apart from teaching in Canada, I have also taught in the United Kingdom.
I have been teaching and tutoring for the past decade and in that time have developed a structured approach to tutoring that depends on the student’s learning style and needs. I strive to establish a rapport with my students and motivate them to reach their highest potential. I also work on helping students develop effective study habits and organizational skills. I have many years of experience working with English language learners, and students with special needs. I’ve also tutored adult/mature students over the years that have gone on to attend college or university.
I offer in-home tutoring for students located in North York, Thornhill, Vaughan, Maple, Richmond Hill, and Markham. I also tutor in neutral locations such as libraries and coffee shops. I provide help with homework and projects, and prepare students for tests and exams. I am very familiar with the Ontario school curriculum and have access to worksheets, quizzes, practice tests and exams. Over the years, I have taught many of the courses that I offer tutoring in to a classroom of students and have developed study resources that I share with my students. Commonly, I prepare students for courses that they will be taking in the future, ensuring that they feel confident before the start of a course.
I am very flexible when it comes to scheduling tutoring sessions. My students are not obligated to have a certain number of tutoring sessions per week. I am fine with students scheduling sessions on an ongoing basis; no one is locked into a rigid schedule. I always try to be accommodating, and I’m fine with cancellations, if I am notified in advance. I am also open to negotiating rates in order to make my services more affordable to those that require many hours per week.
