My rates range from $45-50 per hour. I charge $70 for a 90 minute session. The rate for a 2-hour session is $90. I accept cash or cheque as forms of payment, and provide receipts for tax purposes.
I prefer to be paid after each session, but I’m also fine with being paid a few sessions in advance.
Yes, I offer discounts to those taking more than one session per week.
My sessions are typically 90 minutes in length. I have found this amount of time to be most suitable because I generally find that an hour is usually not enough to go over what was covered in class that week. With most students, I have found that a 90-minute session once a week is ideal. Some students prefer two 1-hour sessions a week, while others prefer to have a 2-hour session once per week.
I begin every session by first asking the student if he or she has any questions from school. I ask the student if there were any problems that he or she had difficulty solving. And if there were any concepts that he or she didn’t completely understand when they were covered in class. After working through problems that the student had difficulties solving and going over concepts that weren’t completely understood, I then move on to assessing the student’s understanding through a variety of problems relevant to what he or she is covering in that specific class. I would consider my approach to be problem-based. I assign a student a variety of problems of varying difficulties and he or she attempts to solve each problem. I guide the student to the answer without giving away too much of the solution when necessary. I model the thinking that would go into solving a problem.
Yes, I have hardcover or electronic versions of textbooks for all the courses that I offer tutoring in. I have taught most of the courses that I tutor, so I also have worksheets, review packages, tests, and exams for every high school math and science course. There are no additional fees for resources that I provide.
Being a high school math and science teacher, I’m very familiar with the Ontario secondary school curriculum. I’ve read through the expectations for each math and science course multiple times, and have developed units for many of the courses.
Over the years, I’ve tutored many students that were enrolled in AP and IB courses, and have grown very familiar with the IB and AP curricula.
There isn’t a certain number of sessions that have to be taken. There is no obligation to take more than one session.
Please schedule sessions a few days in advance. I usually have several students scheduled every night, and may not be able to schedule a session on the same day that it was requested.
I prefer to be notified of a cancellation 3 days in advance so that I have time to make changes to my schedule. I try to be flexible in accommodating cancelations and changes in session dates and times.
If you have any additional questions, you are welcome to submit them below, or just give me a call and I’ll be happy to answer any questions and address any concerns.
